AIICO Insurance Plc has expanded its workplace infrastructure with the unveiling of a newly transformed Learning and Conference Centre at its head office in Victoria Island, Lagos, as the insurer increases investment in employee development and corporate facilities.

The upgraded centre is designed to support training, workshops, strategy sessions and other professional engagements while also serving external organisations seeking conference and event facilities in Lagos.

Equipped with multimedia facilities and technology-enabled infrastructure, the centre provides dedicated spaces for learning, collaboration and knowledge sharing.

AIICO Chief Human Resources Officer Oluyemi Obakin said the facility was developed to create a more effective environment for employees to learn, collaborate and exchange ideas.

“Learning is most effective when people have the right environment to engage, exchange ideas and apply knowledge,” Obakin said.

He added that the purpose-built facility would give the company greater flexibility in delivering training and professional development programmes.

Chief Financial Officer Bisola Elias said organisations typically commit significant resources to hiring external facilities for training programmes, workshops and strategy sessions.

Having a dedicated facility within AIICO’s premises gives the company greater control over those activities while allowing it to retain more of the value associated with hosting them internally.

“The centre is a strategic investment in infrastructure that serves both our people and our business,” Elias said.

The approach could enable AIICO to consolidate some of its learning, development and corporate engagement expenditure around an internally controlled asset.

AIICO Opens Centre to External Organisations

The facility will not be restricted to AIICO employees.

The insurer plans to make the centre available to businesses, professional bodies and other organisations seeking venues for conferences, exhibitions, seminars, symposiums, training programmes and related events.

This gives the infrastructure an external commercial dimension alongside its primary role as an employee development facility.

Located in Victoria Island, one of Lagos’ major commercial districts, the centre is positioned to serve businesses and professionals operating within the area and other parts of the city.
