Nigeria’s Free Trade Zones Attract Over $200bn in Foreign Investment — FG
Nigeria’s free trade zones have attracted more than $200 billion in foreign investment, according to the Federal Government, highlighting their growing role in industrialisation and investment attraction.
The government also disclosed that the zones have attracted more than ₦900 billion in domestic investment.
Beyond capital inflows, the free-zone programme has reportedly created more than 100,000 direct jobs, while over 500,000 employment opportunities have been supported across supply chains, logistics operations and surrounding communities.
The figures reinforce the government’s argument that special economic and free trade zones can serve as major platforms for manufacturing, exports, foreign direct investment and job creation.
Sustaining the gains, however, will depend on the investment environment, infrastructure, regulatory efficiency and Nigeria’s ability to attract businesses seeking competitive production and export locations.
