Ogun State Set for $1.8 Billion Industrial Park as Investors Plan 29 Factories and Thousands of Jobs
Ogun State is positioning itself for a major industrial development as Lee Group of Companies announces a $1.8 billion industrial park expected to attract manufacturers, strengthen production capacity and create more than 2,500 jobs.
The project, known as First Industrial Park, will occupy approximately 450 hectares along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, covering parts of Sagamu and Obafemi-Owode local government areas.
According to the project developers, the facility is designed to accommodate more than 29 manufacturing factories operating across different industries.
The proposed sectors include food processing, cosmetics, footwear, detergents, PVC leather production, recycling and export-oriented manufacturing.
Major Investment in Nigeria’s Manufacturing Sector
The planned industrial development represents an opportunity to establish a coordinated manufacturing environment with infrastructure supporting production and distribution.
Beyond factories, the park is expected to feature warehouses, power facilities, banks, administrative buildings, residential accommodation, commercial centres and transportation facilities.
These services could help businesses reduce some of the logistical challenges associated with operating independent manufacturing facilities.
The developers have projected a gross development value of approximately $3 billion for the wider industrial ecosystem.
Job Creation and Opportunities for SMEs
More than 2,500 direct and indirect jobs are projected once the park becomes operational.
Small and medium-sized enterprises may also benefit through contracts for transportation, packaging, maintenance, catering, equipment supply and other services required by manufacturers.
Its location near the Sagamu Interchange could provide access to important distribution networks connecting Lagos with other parts of Nigeria.
The Bigger Picture
Ogun State has continued to attract interest as an industrial destination because of its proximity to Lagos and access to major transportation routes.
The project’s groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for November 12, 2026, with Governor Dapo Abiodun expected to attend.
While the proposed investment is significant, its eventual economic impact will depend on successful construction, factory occupancy, infrastructure delivery and the creation of sustainable jobs.
