Auctioneers institute unveils growth plan, promotes excellence
The Certified Institute of Auctioneers Nigeria (CIAN), Abuja Chapter, has unveiled a two-year roadmap aimed at building a vibrant, inclusive, and progressive community of auctioneers in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking at his inauguration, the newly elected Chairman of CIAN Abuja, Ajayi Franklin, described the occasion as “a new beginning in the history of the institute,” noting that the chapter is poised for innovation, growth, and strengthened professionalism.
“We are not just auctioneers; we are professionals, entrepreneurs, and leaders in our respective fields,” Franklin declared.
Four Strategic Priorities for 2025–2027
Unveiling his vision for the next two years, Franklin outlined four core areas of focus:

Professional Development

Regular training and capacity-building programmes

Monthly auctions at the secretariat for practical experience

Establishment of a fully functional auction house

Creation of a one-stop-shop secretariat equipped with tools for auctioneering
“Our goal is to provide our members with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their profession,” Franklin affirmed.

Membership Engagement

Recruitment of at least 20 active professional auctioneers

Mentorship programmes pairing senior members with newcomers

An annual chapter conference and end-of-year social gathering
“We want to create a sense of community and belonging among our members,” he added.

Strengthening ties with government agencies, regulators, and industry associations

Promoting policies that advance auctioneering in Nigeria

Protecting the interests of members and the profession
“We will work tirelessly to promote the interests of our members and the profession as a whole,” Franklin stated.

“We are committed to transparency and accountability in all our dealings,” he pledged.

Franklin urged members to work collectively to elevate the auctioneering profession, support one another, and strive for excellence. He also appealed to guests, partners, and stakeholders to collaborate with the Abuja Chapter in promoting auctioneering as a tool for economic development.
“With your support, I am committed to working tirelessly to achieve our goals with dedication, transparency, and accountability. Together, we can build a stronger, more vibrant community of auctioneers in Abuja,” he concluded.
