Adebowale Adesona Named Transformational Leader of the Year 2026 in Insurance Leadership

Adebowale Adesona, Managing Director of Coronation Life Assurance Limited, has been recognised among the Global Power Leaders 2026 as Transformational Leader of the Year 2026 in Insurance Leadership.

The recognition was presented at the Global Leadership Conclave 2026 in London, held from September 22 to 23, with engagements including a session at the House of Lords.

Adesona’s recognition comes against the backdrop of his leadership of Coronation Life Assurance Limited and his contribution to the development of the insurance industry in Nigeria. With more than 20 years of experience in insurance, he has worked across actuarial practice, product development and pricing, business strategy, capital planning and asset-liability management. He was also involved in the implementation of IFRS 17 for insurers in Nigeria and serves on the Council of the Nigerian Actuarial Society.

Since becoming Managing Director of Coronation Life Assurance Limited, Adesona has led the business with a focus on strengthening its life insurance proposition, improving customer experience and advancing digital capabilities. The company’s current offering spans life protection, group life, credit life and flexible investment solutions, alongside savings and retirement propositions.

Established in 2007, Coronation Life Assurance Limited is licensed to underwrite all classes of life assurance risks for individuals and corporate entities, covering both short- and long-term risks. The recognition also comes as Coronation Life Assurance Limited records a significant development in its business. In August, the company and Coronation Insurance Plc successfully completed a ₦9.2 billion private placement, enabling both businesses to meet the new minimum capital requirements under the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025. The stronger capital position provides greater capacity to invest in technology, product development and customer experience.
