Varsity appoints Ikenga board member

Business leader and Chairman of Eunisell Interlinked Plc, Chika Ikenga, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Business School of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture.

The appointment, announced in a statement on Monday, recognises Ikenga’s leadership record and his contributions to national development, economic growth, and institutional advancement.

According to a letter signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Nkeiruka Mbanasor, the decision was based on Ikenga’s public service roles and his impact in strengthening institutions and supporting national development.

The letter read in part: “These accomplishments align strongly with the vision of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture’s Business School to serve as a hub for advanced learning, research, entrepreneurship development, and policy dialogue that support Nigeria’s agricultural and economic sectors.”

With the appointment, Ikenga will join other members of the board to provide strategic guidance aimed at strengthening the growth and global positioning of the institution’s business school.

The statement added that he would contribute to the development, review, and implementation of high-quality academic programmes, while also advising on partnerships, industry collaborations, and governance practices.

Speaking on his appointment, Ikenga emphasised the importance of strengthening advanced learning and professional education in Nigerian universities.

He said: “There is an urgent need to strengthen advanced learning and leadership development in our academic institutions so they can better equip future generations with the skills needed to drive economic growth and innovation.”

The statement noted that Ikenga’s leadership experience across industry and enterprise development would add significant value to the business school’s strategic direction and its mission to support Nigeria and the wider African continent.

Ikenga is also the creator of Nigeria’s premium haircare brand, Nature’s Gentle Touch.

Over the years, he has built a reputation as a respected business leader and advocate for sustainable development. Under his leadership, the Eunisell Group has expanded its operations across industrial and speciality chemicals, oil and gas production solutions, power engineering, and consumer goods manufacturing, contributing to Nigeria’s industrial and economic landscape.
