NISO reports improvements in power grid stability
Despite operating within long-standing system constraints in the power sector, Nigeria’s national grid recorded a noticeable improvement in stability in 2025, the Nigerian Independent System Operator has said.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NISO, Abdu Bello Mohammed, in his end-of-year message obtained by our correspondent on Sunday, said that compared with previous years, grid disturbances were fewer and were managed more effectively, reflecting enhanced operational control across the network.
The NISO attributed the improvement to the professionalism, vigilance, and commitment of its system operators, as well as stronger coordination with market participants and key sector stakeholders, which helped to contain disruptions and restore supply more efficiently when incidents occurred.
The system operator reaffirmed its commitment to building a resilient, flexible, and future-ready national grid capable of supporting increased integration of renewable energy, stimulating industrial growth, and powering Nigeria’s long-term sustainable economic development.
