Nigeria Immigration launches resident permit application portal, ends physical forms by August 1
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has unveiled a new digital platform dedicated to the application and processing of the Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (CERPAC).
In a statement signed by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACI Akinlabi, this initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s broader agenda to modernize the country’s immigration system.
The newly launched online portal, accessible at https://cerpac.immigration.gov.ng, is now operational. Through this platform, applicants can electronically complete and submit their CERPAC applications.

The NIS explained that the digital transition aims to enhance transparency, drive operational efficiency, and provide a smoother experience for both individuals and organizations applying for expatriate permits.
August 1 Deadline
The Service emphasized that the transition comes with a firm timeline. Effective August 1, 2025, all CERPAC applications must be submitted exclusively via the online platform, as physical application forms will be phased out and no longer accepted.
Applicants who have already paid for but not yet submitted physical forms must finalize and submit them on or before July 31, 2025, or risk losing their application status along with any associated payments.
Additionally, organizations and individuals responsible for managing immigration compliance for expatriates are strongly advised to ensure all pending submissions are completed prior to the cutoff date to prevent disruptions.
The NIS reiterated that any CERPAC form left unsubmitted by the deadline will be considered void and invalid.
“Responsibility lies with expatriates to ensure all pending submissions are completed within the stipulated timeframe to avoid any inconvenience. Consequently, any CERPAC form not submitted after the deadline will be rendered void and invalid.
All inquiries and correspondence regarding this matter should be directed to the Service through the office of the Public Relations Officer,” the statement concluded.
