The stage is set for Akwa Ibom Tech Week (AKTW) 2025, a groundbreaking technology and innovation event slated to take place this November in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Billed as a transformative gathering, AKTW 2025 aims to catalyze digital transformation, attract strategic investments, and stimulate socio-economic growth across the state.

In a statement, Hanson Johnson, President of Ibom Innovation Network LTD/GTE, described the event as a response to the untapped creative and technological potential of Akwa Ibom’s youth.

“We recognised the critical need for a platform that could not only showcase this talent but also connect it with the resources, knowledge, and opportunities required to truly flourish,” he said.

Vision and Impact

AKTW 2025 is designed around three key goals:

  • Accelerating digital transformation across various sectors.

  • Attracting local and international investment into Akwa Ibom’s tech ecosystem.

  • Creating tangible socio-economic impact through job creation, skills development, and innovation.

Johnson expressed his vision to see Akwa Ibom emerge not just as a consumer of technology, but as a producer and exporter of digital solutions with global relevance.

Event Highlights

The week-long event will feature:

  • Keynote speeches by global pioneers in Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and Emerging Technologies.

  • Panel discussions with founders of successful African tech unicorns.

  • Masterclasses and workshops facilitated by industry experts from across the globe.

  • A dynamic Career Fair connecting young talents to tech companies and startups offering internships and job placements.

“It’s a unique chance for youth to learn, network, and be inspired by the vast possibilities that technology presents for their future,” Johnson added.

Driving Tourism and Local Growth

AKTW 2025 is also expected to serve as a catalyst for tourism and economic development in Akwa Ibom. The anticipated influx of visitors is already boosting demand in the hospitality sector, increasing hotel occupancy, air travel, and stimulating local businesses—translating to new jobs and local revenue generation.

Inclusive Participation Strategy

To ensure broad and inclusive participation, the organisers have implemented:

  • Targeted outreach for women, students, and underserved communities.

  • Scholarship and subsidised ticket programmes to remove financial barriers.

  • Specialised workshops and mentorship sessions for women in tech and aspiring young innovators.

Call to Action

Odiong Akpan, Director at Ibom Innovation Network, emphasized that AKTW 2025 is not just an event, but a movement toward a digitally empowered Akwa Ibom.

“We invite everyone passionate about driving digital innovation to connect with us through our website, social media channels, and outreach programs. Let’s build a brighter, digitally-powered future for Akwa Ibom together,” he said.
