In a decisive move to sanitise Nigeria’s auctioneering industry and eliminate unauthorised operations, the Nigerian Auctioneers Group has inaugurated a National Task Force Committee aimed at restoring professionalism, transparency, and regulatory compliance across the sector.

The group, which comprises seasoned professionals and stakeholders within the industry, made this known in a formal statement, naming David Omeike as the National Chairman of the newly established committee.

According to the National Caretaker and Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Association of Auctioneers (NAA), the core mandate of the task force is to:

  • Ensure that only duly registered and licensed auctioneers are allowed to operate across the country

  • Monitor and prevent unauthorised auction activities

  • Curb sharp practices and illegal operations

  • Liaise with law enforcement and regulatory agencies for enforcement

  • Support the implementation of decisions from the Caretaker Committee and National Executive Council

The task force is expected to serve as a vital enforcement arm of the association, ensuring that only professionals who meet industry standards and licensing requirements conduct auctions within Nigeria’s jurisdiction.
