VFD Group Plc has appointed Ijeoma Emezie-Ezigbo as its Deputy Managing Director and Executive Director, strengthening the investment company’s leadership structure as it moves to deepen governance and support long-term growth.

The appointment took effect on October 5, 2026, according to the company. The position is, however, subject to shareholders’ approval at a General Meeting and the required regulatory approvals.

Emezie-Ezigbo Brings Over 20 Years of Experience

Emezie-Ezigbo joins VFD Group with more than two decades of experience spanning corporate finance, transaction advisory, mergers and acquisitions, business valuation and strategic financial management.

She most recently served as Partner and Head of Transaction Services, West Africa, at KPMG Nigeria, where she worked on transaction and corporate advisory engagements across the region.

Her career also includes senior positions at Stanbic IBTC Group, IBM Canada and Canadian Tire Corporation.

Her extensive background is expected to provide VFD Group with additional expertise in transactions, financial strategy and strategic decision-making as the company manages its investment and financial services interests.

Leadership Structure Takes Centre Stage

VFD Group said the creation of the Deputy Managing Director position is part of its broader effort to strengthen its institutional structure.

Group Managing Director Nonso Okpala said the move reflects the company’s ambition to build stronger governance systems, leadership capacity and succession structures that can support the organisation beyond individual executives.

According to the company, Emezie-Ezigbo’s experience in corporate finance, transaction advisory and strategic management will add depth to the executive team and support sustainable value creation.

Strong Academic and Professional Credentials

Emezie-Ezigbo holds a First-Class degree in Business Administration from the University of Nigeria and a Master of Finance from Cass Business School in London.

She has also completed the Advanced Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

Her professional qualifications include Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), ACCA, Chartered Professional Accountant in Ontario, Canada, and Certified Valuation Analyst.

VFD Strengthens Executive Team

Emezie-Ezigbo will work alongside Group Managing Director Nonso Okpala and Executive Directors Folajimi Adeleye and Morenike Ominike.

The company’s board is chaired by Olatunde Busari (SAN).

The appointment signals VFD Group’s continued emphasis on institutionalisation, stronger governance and leadership succession as it positions the group for sustainable expansion.

For the investment company, bringing a senior transaction and corporate finance professional into the executive leadership could also strengthen its capacity to evaluate investments, execute strategic transactions and create long-term value across its portfolio.
